The Athame has 4 charges, and regains 1d4 expended charges daily at dawn. Additionally, when the Athame reduces a creature to 0 hit points, it regains 1 charge. When the wielder hits with an attack, they can choose to expend any number of charges from the Athame, dealing an additional 1d6 necrotic damage per charge expended, which is inflicted on the target of that attack.

Awakened[]

The bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to a +3. Damage dealt by the Athame now ignores immunity, as well as resistance. The Athame's maximum charges becomes 6, and it regains 1d4+2 charges daily at dawn. When the Athame reduces a creature to 0 hit points, it now regains 2 charges.

Exalted[]

The bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to a +4. Creatures with abilities that trigger when reaching 0 hit points do not trigger if the Athame reduces them to 0 hit points. A creature killed by the Athame cannot be restored to life or unlife. The Athame's maximum charges becomes 10, and it regains 1d6+4 charges daily at dawn. When the Athame reduces a creature to 0 hit points, it now regains 3 charges.
